– Screw the Ethics?

Thursday 24th June 2010, 19.00 – 21.00

Ethical responsibility; how can it be understood? Where do you draw the line and when do you step over that line, and if you do step over that line, what happens to your own ethical understanding? Have you personally progressed or changed into a more cynical person compared to the old you? Because you can never go back.
In 2003 on a west London street I was confronted by a man with a big black hole in his face, he had no nose, I felt abused!
I asked if I could take his portrait, his answer was no. I decided to stalk him from my studio window. I became obsessed. He passed every morning 09.00 and returned 09.20 with a plastic bag in his hand. I even hid a video camera on me, stopping him, talking to him and pushing my ethical boundaries.
These images and films were never meant to be shown, but in 2006 I was invited to exhibit at the Henie Onstad Art Center in Norway, after much deliberation and without his knowledge I decided to make the show Screw the Ethics? which will now be reproduced in Paris at The Institute of Social Hypocrisy and shown for only 3 days – regardless of the consequences.

ps. Attached is a letter I received late 2003 from a neighbour, I continued the project for a further 2 years.
pps. This show is not dedicate to my X Gallerist, who now apparently says he does not believe in my art, Hypocrite!
